Diablo 4 Streamer Crushes Torment 12 in 17 Hours: Is It Too Easy?

Diablo 4 streamer Mekuna has successfully conquered the new Torment 12 difficulty tier in the Lord of Hatred expansion in just 17 hours, sparking a heated debate regarding the game’s lack of “aspirational content” for hardcore players.

The Speed-Run Controversy

Mekuna’s rapid progression through the expansion’s most challenging tier has raised eyebrows, not because of the physical toll of a 17-hour gaming session, but because of his critique of the game’s design. In his summary video, the streamer argues that the current endgame is far too accessible, noting, “It just didn’t take that long. With the right approach, anyone can do it.”

Blizzard’s Vision vs. Player Expectations

The divide highlights a growing tension within the Diablo 4 community. While casual players may find the progression system balanced, elite players are increasingly vocal about their desire for more demanding, “aspirational” challenges. Blizzard associate game director Zaven Haroutunian recently addressed these concerns, stating that the studio’s goal with Lord of Hatred was to “create opportunities for players to make their own goals.”

Mekuna acknowledges that the new T1 through T12 scaling is a significant improvement for the general player base, as it provides a clearer progression path. However, he contends that the marketing surrounding the expansion was misleading. “The way it was communicated to us was a bit misleading. We were thinking about reaching T12 in like two weeks of grinding, and unfortunately, that didn’t happen,” he explains.

The “No-Life” Argument

Addressing potential backlash from the community, Mekuna defends his achievement by emphasizing that the 17-hour completion time should be viewed objectively rather than as a product of his status as a full-time streamer. “I also see people that are going to come and say it’s because I’m a streamer… well, that T12 challenge just took me 17 hours, and this has nothing to do with being a no-life,” he asserts.

Despite his stance, the reality for a large portion of the player base remains vastly different. One top-rated YouTube comment succinctly captured this sentiment: “What you did in 17h, I will take a month to do.”

As the Lord of Hatred expansion faces early hurdles, including login issues, server queues, and various bugs, Blizzard remains under pressure to address these technical frustrations while simultaneously balancing the endgame experience for players of all skill levels.
