The Dockmaster’s Detector in Arc Raiders is a specialized metal detector used during the “Beachcombing” map modifier event on the Riven Tides map. While the game provides little guidance on its mechanics, understanding how to effectively locate, operate, and repair this tool is essential for players looking to farm rare loot and ship models.

How the Dockmaster’s Detector Works
To utilize the Dockmaster’s Detector, you must equip it and deploy to the Riven Tides map while the Beachcombing modifier is active. Once on the beach, activate the device to scan the sand for hidden loot. Keep in mind that this is a competitive environment; other players can scavenge the same areas, leaving behind empty containers if they reach the treasure first.

The beach is a vast, open terrain patrolled by various Arc units, including Wasps, Hornets, and Fireflies. You will also encounter comets and surveyors near the crane sectors. While the area is dangerous, it is notably free of Arc Turbines, making it a relatively manageable zone for farming.

Beachcombing Rewards and Loot
Rewards obtained through Beachcombing are randomized, much like other loot drops in Arc Raiders. However, this event is a reliable source for collecting Ship Models, including those of higher rarities. Players can expect to find a variety of items buried in the sand, though you should exercise caution, as digging up treasure always carries an inherent risk of encountering threats or traps.

Sourcing the Detector
The Dockmaster’s Detector is a common item that can be found as a random drop in various containers throughout the game. Red lockers, in particular, have a high spawn rate for these detectors. Additionally, you can acquire the tool as a quest reward, such as by completing the first stage of the “Avian Alarm” project. Because they are relatively common, keeping a few in your inventory is rarely an issue.

Repairing Your Broken Detector
Like many tools in the game, the Dockmaster’s Detector will eventually break after repeated use, indicated by a “broken item” status message. Instead of discarding it to free up inventory space, you should hold onto it. Once you return to the Speranza hub, you can repair the device for a cost of three batteries, allowing you to reuse it indefinitely.
