Bandai Namco’s next major JRPG revival has been prematurely revealed after a PEGI age rating listing for Tales of Eternia Remastered surfaced online on April 16, confirming a project that has yet to be officially announced.

A Surprise Leak from PEGI
The Pan European Game Information (PEGI) board inadvertently published the listing before quickly scrubbing it from their website. Despite the swift removal, the internet captured the details of the entry, which confirmed the title as Tales of Eternia Remastered. The rating board assigned the game a PEGI 12 classification, citing “moderate violence and use of bad language” as the primary reasons for the age restriction.
Confirming a 26-Year-Old Classic
Any speculation that the rating might be an error was put to rest by the specific synopsis included in the listing. The description directly references the 2000 title—known as Tales of Destiny 2 in North America—following the journey of Reid, Farah, and Keele as they encounter a mysterious girl named Meredy. The plot summary explicitly mentions their quest to uncover her origins, which eventually leads them across a dimensional boundary into the realm of Celestia.
The Evolution of the Tales Remastered Project
Bandai Namco has been aggressively expanding its Tales Remastered Project over the last 18 months, aiming to modernize older entries in the franchise. Previous releases, such as Tales of Graces f Remastered, Tales of Xillia Remastered, and Tales of Berseria Remastered, focused primarily on visual enhancements and minor quality-of-life adjustments.
The potential arrival of Tales of Eternia Remastered marks a significant shift for the initiative. As the oldest title and the first 2D entry to join the project, it would likely require far more extensive technical work than previous 3D remasters. Fans are currently looking for a substantial follow-up to Tales of Arise, and with the franchise’s 30th anniversary yielding relatively light news, a high-effort remaster of this classic could serve as a vital bridge for the community.
