Yacht Club Games has officially announced that Mina the Hollower will launch on May 29 for $19.99, finally bringing the highly anticipated title to players after six years of development.

A Long-Awaited Arrival
“TRUE FINAL RELEASE DATE!!” the studio exclaimed on Bluesky, marking the end of a wait that began when the project successfully raised over $1 million on Kickstarter in 2022. The developers are positioning the game as a premier top-down adventure, promising a premium experience for under $20.
Players can currently wishlist the game via the official Yacht Club Games website. Upon release, the title will be available across a broad spectrum of platforms, including PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, as well as PC, Mac, and Linux. The game places players in control of Mina, a “Hollower” tasked with using her whip to fend off grotesque enemies and navigate a cursed, Victorian Gothic island.

Ambitious Scope and Features
Described by the studio as its “most ambitious game ever,” Mina the Hollower blends the aesthetics and mechanics of Castlevania, Zelda-style dungeon crawling, and Hollow Knight. The title features a densely interconnected world born from over six years of design iterations. Content-rich gameplay awaits, including more than 25 bosses and mini-bosses, 60 unique Trinkets, a comprehensive weapon upgrade system, and a full level-up mechanic. Furthermore, the game includes a New Game Plus mode and hundreds of gameplay modifiers to experiment with.
High Stakes for Yacht Club Games
The release carries significant weight for the studio. Following the success of 2014’s Shovel Knight, subsequent spinoffs failed to maintain the same momentum. Yacht Club Games co-founder Sean Velasco explicitly stated in 2025 that the success of Mina the Hollower is “make-or-break for sure.”
The development journey has been notoriously difficult; creator Alex Faulkner previously described the project as “just cursed.” While the game was originally slated for a Halloween 2025 release, the team opted for a last-minute delay to ensure the final product received necessary polish. After nearly a year of additional refinement, the studio is now prepared to reveal the final result to the public.
