Wolf Games, a new startup backed by Law & Order creator Dick Wolf, is leveraging artificial intelligence to craft interactive murder mystery experiences, with its flagship title, Public Eye, set to debut this summer.
AI-Driven Storytelling and Consistency
The startup aims to solve common narrative pitfalls in procedural storytelling by using AI to maintain strict continuity. “If a character gets a scar on their face halfway through the story, every time that character appears, they’ll have the scar,” Wolf explained.
Early testing of the game, which tasks players with solving the murder of a store owner, suggests the AI is capable of generating compelling narratives. Despite the genre being highly competitive, the team believes their approach—featuring suspects like a suspicious intern, a drunken boyfriend, and a disgruntled daughter—delivers a polished experience, complete with unexpected plot twists.
High-Profile Backing and Future Strategy
The venture has attracted significant industry attention, with a pre-seed funding round that includes Dick Wolf, Beats co-founder Jimmy Iovine, and United Talent Agency Chairman Paul Wachter. Looking ahead, Wolf Games is evaluating potential collaborations with IP holders to adapt established television properties into interactive gaming formats.
Public Eye will be free-to-play with optional in-app purchases. Interested players can join a waitlist for early access.
