Epic Games is officially integrating third-party games into its mobile storefront while launching an aggressive initiative to subsidize iOS developer fees. By introducing a free games program, the company aims to offset the costs for participating developers on both iOS and iPadOS platforms.

Global Rollout and Strategic Growth

The new initiative centers on a monthly rotation of free games distributed through the Epic mobile store. This content will be accessible to users worldwide on Android devices, while availability for iOS users remains restricted to the European Union, aligning with the company’s ongoing regulatory battles.

Expanding the Mobile Ecosystem

Since its debut in August, the Epic Games mobile store has functioned primarily as a distribution hub for the company’s proprietary hits, such as Fortnite and Rocket League. This update marks the first time Epic has opened its platform to external developers, signaling a significant shift toward a broader, more competitive digital marketplace.

A Billion-Dollar Commitment

The scale of this expansion reflects the company’s long-term ambitions for its mobile infrastructure.
