In Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, players unlock character-specific skills by spending tokens found in Waynetech Caches at the upgrade workbench located in the Batcave.

Understanding the New Skill System
Unlike previous entries in the series, skills in Legacy of the Dark Knight are strictly tied to individual characters and their unique ability sets. This design choice ensures that every hero and villain feels fundamentally distinct. As you progress, you will need to actively invest in enhancing these abilities to maximize your effectiveness in combat and exploration.

Character-Specific Ability Trees
Every character features a personalized skill tree corresponding to their two core powers. Based on our preview build, we have analyzed the progression for four major characters, with more to be added upon the game’s full release:
- Batman: Features the most extensive skill trees, revolving around his iconic Batarang and Batclaw gadgets.
- Jim Gordon: His progression focuses on mastering the Foam Sprayer and Rebound Launcher.
- Catwoman: Her trees enhance the Whip and the “Call Kitty” ability, which summons a feline companion for stealth or combat maneuvers.
- Robin: His powers mirror Batman’s utility, utilizing the Birdarang and Cable Launcher, each with its own dedicated upgrade path.

Strategic Upgrade Priorities
When choosing which nodes to unlock, prioritize skills that introduce entirely new gameplay options rather than those that simply provide incremental stat boosts. Expanding your tactical repertoire is the most effective way to handle the challenges presented throughout the game.

How to Access the Upgrade Workbench
To start customizing your characters, head to the Batcave. Locate the upgrade workbench situated to the right of Batmite’s shop. You can easily identify this station by looking for the blue workbench icon while using Detect mode.

Once at the bench, you can view and purchase upgrades for any character you have unlocked. Remember that all upgrades are purchased using tokens collected from Waynetech Caches hidden throughout the game world. Make sure to keep an eye out for these collectibles to ensure you have the currency required to fully upgrade your favorite heroes.
