Lead actress Tati Gabrielle confirms that Naughty Dog’s upcoming title, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, will showcase a refreshing new direction for the studio, marking a significant departure from the long-standing The Last of Us era.

A Fresh Vision for Naughty Dog
In a recent interview with IGN, Tati Gabrielle, who portrays the bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun, expressed immense excitement for the project. When asked what fans should look forward to, Gabrielle emphasized that the game reveals “a different side of Naughty Dog” that is bound to generate significant buzz among the player base.
Gabrielle hinted that the development team has pushed their own creative boundaries, particularly regarding the game’s world-building. While Naughty Dog is celebrated for the nuanced storytelling found in The Last of Us, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet appears to be shifting that focus toward a more expansive and deliberate construction of its universe.
Breaking the Post-Apocalyptic Cycle
The anticipation for this change is palpable. Aside from the 2022 release of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, Naughty Dog has not launched a non-The Last of Us title since 2017. For fans weary of the post-apocalyptic fungus-filled landscape, this new IP represents a necessary breath of fresh air.
Studio head Neil Druckmann has previously teased that the project is “shaping up to be our wildest, most creative story yet.” This sentiment aligns with the studio’s need to pivot after years of focusing on a singular franchise.
What We Know So Far
While an official release date remains unannounced, rumors suggest that a 2024 launch is unlikely. Despite the lack of a firm window, Gabrielle remains “super stoked” for the final product, leaving fans to wait for further reveals from the developer.
The development of this title carries additional weight, as it follows the cancellation of The Last of Us Online. After seven years of development and reaching 80% completion, that project was ultimately scrapped to allow the studio to pivot its resources toward the development of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
