Arc Raiders Riven Tides Update Adds Beach Map and Boss

Embark Studios has officially launched the “Riven Tides” update for Arc Raiders on Tuesday, April 28, introducing a sprawling new beachside map, a massive flying boss known as the Arc Turbine, and a host of fresh gameplay mechanics to the extraction shooter.

Exploring the Azzurro Beach Map

The centerpiece of this update is the Riven Tides map, which transports players to the scenic yet dangerous Azzurro beach. The environment features a haunting aesthetic where encroaching sands swallow the remnants of a resort, including water slides, tennis courts, parasols, and a dilapidated harbor. This map serves as a significant expansion for players seeking a departure from familiar locations like Spaceport and Blue Gate.

Confronting the Arc Turbine

Looming over the shifting sands of Azzurro is the Arc Turbine, a colossal flying machine previously teased during hurricane storms. Embark describes this ominous cone-shaped bot as a formidable threat equipped with advanced defensive measures. Unlike the spider-like Queen and Matriarch machines, which rely on limb-peeling mechanics, the Arc Turbine’s aerial nature and unique design will force players to adapt their combat strategies entirely.

New Mechanics and Progression

Riven Tides introduces “Beachcombing,” a unique map condition that scatters hidden loot beneath the coastal sands. Players can streamline their search for buried treasure by completing the new five-stage “Avian Alarm” Raider project to unlock the Dockmaster’s Detector.

Furthermore, the “Last Resort” event will run from April 28 through May 25. This event rewards active gameplay by converting XP into progression merits. Players can boost their gains by collecting miniature ship models scattered throughout the world, unlocking exclusive rewards such as Raider Tokens and new cosmetic sets that blend pirate-inspired aesthetics with sci-fi military gear.

Expedition Updates and PS5 Pro Enhancements

The April-May Expedition is also live, running from April 28 through May 11. This iteration features a damage-focused challenge where skill points are earned through combat performance rather than stash value. Following community feedback, Embark has extended the deadline for this specific challenge to ensure players have ample time to participate.

For console players, the update brings a technical boost to the PlayStation 5 Pro. Riven Tides introduces upgraded PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), providing sharper visuals and enhanced environmental detail for a more immersive experience.

With production director Caio Braga signaling a commitment to expanding endgame content, this update aims to reinvigorate the player base by offering fresh tactical challenges and a much-needed change of scenery.
