Amazon officially launched a major redesign of its Luna game-streaming service this Thursday, introducing a “GameNight” feature that allows Prime members to play multiplayer titles using their smartphones as controllers at no additional cost.
Introducing GameNight: Local Multiplayer Made Easy
The most significant update to the platform is the debut of GameNight, a curated library featuring over 25 local multiplayer games. Amazon designed this collection specifically to facilitate social gaming experiences for friends and family directly in the living room.
GameNight launches with exclusive content from Amazon Game Studios, headlined by “Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg.” This AI-driven improv game challenges players to craft absurd characters and weave wild narratives while defending their testimonies before Judge Snoop Dogg himself.
A Diverse Library of Party Classics
Beyond the exclusive Snoop Dogg title, the GameNight catalog is packed with fan-favorite multiplayer experiences, including:
- Angry Birds Flock Party
- Draw & Guess
- The Jackbox Party Pack 9
- Ticket to Ride
- Exploding Kittens 2
- Clue
- Tetris Effect: Connected
By enabling smartphone-based controls, Amazon is positioning Luna as a go-to solution for casual social gatherings and game nights, lowering the barrier to entry for non-gamers.
Accessibility at the Core of the Experience
“GameNight takes even further the idea of easy access that’s core to the new Luna, delivering a collection of incredibly fun and approachable games that absolutely shine when played together with friends and family,” said Jeff Gattis, general manager of Amazon Luna, in a press release. “Anyone with a smartphone can dive right in and have a blast, regardless of their gaming abilities.”
Expanded AAA Catalog and Premium Options
The revamped service also bolsters its library with high-profile titles such as “Hogwarts Legacy,” “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle,” “Kingdom Come: Deliverance II,” and “TopSpin 2K25.” It is important to note that for games outside the specific GameNight collection, users must still utilize a traditional controller, mouse, or keyboard.
For users seeking a more extensive gaming library, Amazon offers Luna Premium (formerly known as Luna+). Priced at $9.99 per month, this subscription tier grants access to additional blockbuster titles, including “EA SPORTS FC 25,” “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor,” and “Batman: Arkham Knight.”
