The Pokemon Trading Card Game is embracing a sinister aesthetic with its newly announced expansion, “Pitch Black,” set to launch globally on July 17, 2026.
A New Era of Mega Evolutions
Inspired by the Mega Dimension DLC from Pokemon Legends: Z-A, the “Pitch Black” expansion introduces a darker thematic shift to the TCG. The set is headlined by the formidable Mega Darkrai ex and boasts a total of over 115 new cards. Notably, the collection includes six brand-new Mega Evolution Pokemon ex, expanding the strategic possibilities for players and collectors alike.
Key Cards and Collectibles
The expansion highlights the more menacing side of the Pokemon universe. Alongside the marquee Mega Darkrai ex—which prominently features on the Elite Trainer Box—players can expect to see Mega Chandelure ex taking a central role. The set also diversifies its roster with the inclusion of Mega Zeraora ex and Mega Excadrill ex, ensuring a mix of electric and ground-type powerhouses alongside the darker themes.
