The Dead by Daylight 2v8 mode is officially live as of April 28, 2026, offering a chaotic deathmatch experience that pits two killers against eight survivors until Tuesday, May 19, at 8 AM PDT / 11 AM EDT / 4 PM BST.

What’s New in the 2v8 Update
This iteration of the limited-time mode brings fresh gameplay tweaks rather than new killer additions. Behaviour Interactive has introduced buffs for The Deathslinger and nerfs for The Oni, alongside updates to the anti-camp system, which now allows players to toggle whether their cage moves. Additionally, the map rotation has expanded to include the Temple of Purgation and Ironworks of Misery.

The event also marks the return of the Attack on Titan crossover. Players can acquire exclusive outfits for characters like The Trapper, Jake Park, and Thalita Lyra, or complete event requests to earn free rewards, including a themed badge, banner, and charm.

Core Gameplay Mechanics and Balancing
To support the increased player count, the trial mechanics have been adjusted. Matches now feature 13 generators instead of the standard seven, requiring eight to be repaired to power the exit gates.

Standard perks are disabled in 2v8. Instead, players choose from pre-built classes. For survivors, these classes dictate specific skills and items—such as the “Guide” skill, which reveals generator progress and provides stuns. Killers also utilize class-based skills that complement their unique powers, though these effects vary by character.

Hatch Mechanics and MMR
As the trial reaches its conclusion, the hatch system functions differently: three hatches spawn across the map when only two survivors remain. In a shift from standard rules, survivors cannot share a hatch; it becomes a “every man for himself” scenario.

Because the 2v8 mode is a limited-time event, your MMR remains unaffected by trial outcomes. Players can earn standard Bloodpoints throughout the event, making it an ideal time to jump into the chaos without risking competitive rank.
