Final Fantasy 7 icon Tifa Lockhart is reportedly joining the Street Fighter 6 roster, a move that threatens to snatch away the most-requested guest character from the long-suffering Tekken fanbase.

The Ongoing Frustration of the Tekken Community
Tekken enthusiasts are currently facing a period of low morale, exacerbated by poorly received updates in the game’s recent seasons. For years, fans have campaigned for two major guest fighters: Kazuma Kiryu from the Yakuza series and Tifa Lockhart. While Kiryu’s inclusion has been effectively ruled out due to the character’s narrative constraints regarding fighting women, Tifa fans have watched as other Final Fantasy protagonists, such as Noctis and Clive, secured spots in Tekken DLC rosters instead.
Leaked Roster and Credible Sources
Rumors regarding Tifa’s arrival in Street Fighter 6 gained traction following a leak on the Street Fighter subreddit. A user, who previously accurately predicted the game’s Season 2 roster—including guest characters Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui—claimed that Tifa, Vega, Mike Haggar, and Gouken are slated for Season 4. This timeline is allegedly linked to the promotion of the upcoming Street Fighter movie.
Industry Speculation and Character Canon
Prominent fighting game community (FGC) creator Rooflemonger corroborated hearing rumors about Tifa and Vega, though he remains skeptical about the full list. He suggests that Capcom may be circulating false information to identify leakers. The inclusion of Gouken and Haggar remains particularly contentious; in the current Street Fighter 6 timeline, Gouken would be of an advanced age, and Mike Haggar is referenced in-game via a memorial arena and a large statue, strongly implying the character is deceased within the series’ canon.
Despite these narrative hurdles, the potential for Tifa to join the Street Fighter universe represents a significant shift in the landscape of guest character crossovers, leaving Tekken fans to navigate yet another disappointment in their quest for their most-wanted fighter.
