Face the Darklords of Ravenloft

In this cooperative monster-hunting experience, players must unite to defeat four iconic threats from the Domains of Dread: the legendary vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich, the malevolent living doll Carrionette, the witch Baba Lysaga—accompanied by her walking hut—and the supernatural, sentient Gulthias Tree. Success requires players to protect innocent bystanders, guide them to safety, and collect essential items while managing the unique defeat conditions for each terrifying foe.

New Hero Classes and D20 Mechanics

Building upon the success of the previous D&D-themed Horrified title, this version introduces five distinct player classes: Ranger, Druid, Sorcerer, Paladin, and Warlock. Each class utilizes a d20-based ability system, where the result of the die roll dictates which specific powers are activated, adding a layer of strategic depth to every turn.

Modular Gameplay and Design

Designed by Peter Lee, a veteran of 15 D&D-based games including Lords of Waterdeep and the original Castle Ravenloft board game, this new title is designed for compatibility. Players can mix and match monsters from Ravenloft with those found in the previous Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons game, as well as several other entries in the franchise.

Part of D&D’s Season of Horror

The release aligns with the broader “Season of Horror” initiative from Wizards of the Coast, which recently announced Ravenloft: The Horror Within. This new sourcebook, launching June 16, provides updated details on Darklords and new character options, further cementing Ravenloft’s status as a cornerstone of the D&D experience.

Kara Kenna, Franchise Creative Director at Wizards of the Coast, stated that bringing the lore of the Domains of Dread into the cooperative gameplay of Horrified was a natural evolution for the brand. The game is currently available for pre-order via Target for $29.99, offering a discount on its $34.99 MSRP.
